Musik-Stadt Region | Porsche Club of America

It's Not Just The Cars…It's The People!

The Musik-Stadt Region (MSK) of the Porsche Club of America (PCA) currently has over 1100 members within the Middle Tennessee area: 747 primary + 369 associate + 57 PCA Junior members. PCA is dedicated to the enjoyment of Porsche cars both old and new. MSK maintains this website and publishes a monthly newsletter with events and articles of interest to our members. We plan monthly breakfast meetings and driving events for the enjoyment of our members and their Porsche cars.

History

Past:
Musik-Stadt Region was organized as a result of a chance meeting between Chuck Elderd and John Hudson at a gas station in Brentwood, TN in 1981. At the time, John was driving a ’73 911T with a Jim Watson built engine and Chuck had a ’74 911 with turbo look mods. Both agreed that Nashville should have its own PCA region and decided to work together to make it happen. Chuck was a DJ on FM 106 and had the means to publicize an organizational effort on his show. John’s role was to handle all the administrative details to get a charter from PCA.

With Chuck’s radio promos and help from Vaughn Motor Company’s customer lists (Porsche dealer in 1982), about 70 people attended the first organizational meeting in the Board Room of the old Nashville City Bank on Union Street. The major business of that first meeting was selecting the Region’s new name. Music City USA, Cumberland, Harpeth River, Volunteer State and Musik-Stadt were the choices. Musik Stadt was the overwhelming choice.

The first events were a concours on October 3, 1982 at Vaughn Motors, a joint concours with the Mercedes Benz Club at the Belle Meade mansion, and an autocross at the driver’s training course at MTSU.

Finally, enough money was collected to handle the expenses associated with getting the charter process completed and to fund some of our early events. In addition to Chuck and John, a number of volunteers worked to make the Region an early success. Donna and Rick Benning, Dyann Corrigan, David Bloodworth, Mike Vansicklen, and Jud Scott were key players in the early days of the Region. In November 1982, Len Turner, PCA Zone #3 Rep, presented Musik-Stadt its charter with 55 PCA members.

John Hudson had the honor of being elected the Region’s first President and the Region has been fortunate to have many able leaders in the succeeding years. Musik-Stadt was formed for and by Porsche owners who really enjoy driving their cars and the fellowship of like-minded men and women. That is still true today.

Present:
Musik-Stadt continues to work with many other regional clubs to host and promote events such as Drivers Education, Auto-crosses, Tech Sessions and Rallies. The club holds monthly meetings the first Saturday of each month at the Hilton Garden Inn in Cool Springs.

Future:
Musik-Stadt PCA looks forward to hosting and planning future multi-event sessions and continuing its proud heritage of camaraderie and fun in Middle Tennessee.

Tech Sessions:
Middle Tennessee is lucky to have several mechanics in the region who work on Porsches. These mechanics generously donate their time and expertise to do tech sessions for the Musik-Stadt Club, allowing members to learn about both simple and advanced mechanical issues. If you are a gear head, these sessions are for you.

Drives:
The club sponsors several drives during the year. The admiration from onlookers ensures that everyone washes their Porsche before joining the tour!
